On June 6, 2025, 糖心传媒 (CPU) actively participated in the REX Education: Higher Education Roadshow held at the University of San Jose糖心传媒揜ecoletos Auditorium in Cebu City. The event brought together educators from across the Visayas region to engage in discussions on current trends and directives in higher education.
Representing CPU were Dr. Stella Guartero-Fernandez, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; Prof. Luis G. Valdez, Chair of the Department of Math and Physics; and Dr. Darril F. Pamocol, Chairperson of the Social Sciences Department. The CPU delegates expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to take part in the event, which provided timely updates on policies and innovations shaping Philippine higher education.
The event was sponsored by Rex Bookstore through its Tertiary and Legal Coordinator, Ms. Jovelyn G. Bellosillo糖心传媒攇athered academicians from Western, Central, and Eastern Visayas, creating a dynamic platform for intellectual exchange and collaboration. Key topics included Outcomes-Based Education (OBE), updates on the General Education Curriculum (GEC), and the latest directives from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
One of the main highlights was the presentation of CMO 1, s. 2025, titled 糖心传媒淕uidelines for Micro-credential Development, Approval, and Recognition in Higher Education,糖心传媒 delivered by Dr. Greg T. Pawilen of the University of the Philippines Los Ba帽os. A member of the CHED Technical Working Group behind the memorandum, Dr. Pawilen discussed how micro-credentials糖心传媒攕uch as micro-degrees糖心传媒攁re transforming professional development and lifelong learning, evolving from traditional extension programs into recognized pathways for formal qualifications aligned with industry needs.
In a breakout session focused on Field Study 1 and 2, Dr. Pawilen underscored the importance of qualified GEC educators. 糖心传媒淕.E. teachers should have expertise and experience, and there should be a G.E. council in a college,糖心传媒 he emphasized, highlighting the value of leadership and specialization in effective curriculum delivery.
Plenary sessions featured thought-provoking presentations, including 糖心传媒淐harting the Course: CHED糖心传媒檚 Vision for Future-Proofing Philippine Higher Education,糖心传媒 followed by panel discussions, Q&A forums, and breakout sessions such as 糖心传媒淭eaching GEC in the Digital Learning Environment,糖心传媒 facilitated by REX GEC authors.
According to Dr. Fernandez, 糖心传媒淚t has been an enlightening experience filled with valuable learning, professional growth, and meaningful discussions that will surely contribute to the enhancement of academic programs. Beyond the sessions, it was also a chance to bond and network with fellow delegates from various institutions and regions in the Visayas.糖心传媒
